Leaky Gut is one of the most prevailing conditions suffered by an every increasing number of people with a Standard Western Diet. And what’s more… very few people are even aware they have it!
1. Digestive issues such as gas, bloating, diarrhoea or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
2. Asthma or seasonal allergies
3. Hormonal imbalances such as PMS, PCOS, irrational anger, or anxiety
5. Diagnosis of chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.
6. Mood and physiological issues such as depression, anxiety.
7. Skin issues such as acne, eczema or rosacea .
8. Diagnosis of candida overgrowth.
9. Food allergies or food intolerances.
For this Bog we are going to pay particular attention to NO. 8 on that list, “Diagnosis of Candida overgrowth,” because the link between the 2 is just so incredible strong as you will see in just a moment and because Candida is very treatable, even without strong medications.
As you can see there is quite a cross over of symptoms between leaky gut and candida and the reason for such a cross over is the strong link between the two.
Killing off this little pest of a fungus can take a little time but even without meds it can be done quite successfully.
Remove as much sugar and starches as you can from your diet. I’d go ketogenic in fact dropping my carb intake to 50 grams or less per day. Candida cannot live without a constant supply of sugar. You can go for slightly higher carb variants of the the keto diets, but keep them as low as you can and certainly well under 150 grams per day.
Stop drinking alchohol for a while or cut it right back.
Fermented foods are great, (Greek style yogurts are my particular favourites) but they also feed candida, so cut them out from your diet for a while.
Try to reduce your stress as much as possible. I know this can be hard, but trust me a leaky Gut is a hell of a lot harder. Get to bed earlier, drink less coffee and get out for a few walk in the open air, preferable in some picturesque open spaces if possible. Breath…
Avoid most nuts and dairy products.
Eat lots of Coconut Oil and Coconut Butter. Caprylic Acid is one of the three fatty acids contained in Coconut oil (along with capric acid and lauric acid, all of which are anti-fugal). It is a potent antifungal that kills Candida cells, by poking little home into the cells of the fungus. Eat lots.
For most people sticking to the rules above will clear out your Clandida problems. But if you really want to go the full hog, go to this web site, Candida Yeast Infection – Foods to Eat and Avoid, for an extensive list.
